Privacy, explained plainly.

Premkumar Vyas, trading as Poll-O, is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice. Contact Poll-O at prem67@hotmail.co.uk. This is also the contact for privacy questions and rights requests.

• Private account information: email address, date of birth, account identifiers, authentication and verification status, and any optional private phone number used for account security. Passwords and verification codes are handled by the authentication provider; Poll-O does not display them publicly.
• Public and community information: your chosen username, handle, avatar, reputation, proposals, votes or positions that the product presents publicly, comments, replies, reactions and other permitted contributions.
• Preferences and service activity: followed or hidden categories, interests, saves, feed interactions, reports, moderation and account-control activity.
• Technical information: device and app version, operating system, IP address, security and diagnostic events, notification tokens, approximate or user-declared coarse location, and records needed to keep the service reliable.
• Advertising information: consent choices, advertising or device identifiers where permitted, approximate location derived from IP, ad requests, impressions, clicks, diagnostics and fraud-prevention signals handled by Google and its advertising partners.
• Support information: messages and the information you choose to provide when contacting support, making a rights request or submitting a legal or safety notice.

Poll-O uses information to create and protect accounts; confirm adult eligibility; provide debates, voting, community and notification features; personalise and improve feeds; calculate community indicators; prevent spam, fraud and manipulation; investigate reports; enforce the Terms and Community Rules; keep the service reliable; respond to support and rights requests; show and measure advertising; and meet legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Where UK or European data-protection law applies, Poll-O relies on performance of a contract to provide the service you request; legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and funding the service and protecting its community; consent where the law requires it, including for certain personalised advertising or device access; and legal obligation where processing is required by law. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Poll-O displays clearly labelled native sponsored content supplied through Google AdMob. Ads can contain images or muted video. They appear only occasionally within the feed, can be moved past immediately, and are kept separate from votes, debate positions and community reputation.

Depending on your region, device settings and choices, Google and participating advertising partners may use the advertising information described above to select, deliver, cap, secure, measure and report ads and, only where permitted, personalise them. Poll-O does not provide advertisers with your private account details, direct messages, votes or debate positions for ad targeting.

Poll-O does not sell personal information for money. Some US laws may treat personalised advertising or the disclosure of identifiers to advertising partners as “sharing”, “targeted advertising” or a “sale”. Where those laws apply, you may opt out through the consent or privacy-options form shown in the app, applicable device privacy settings, or by contacting Poll-O. Poll-O will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Information is shared only as needed with infrastructure, authentication, security, analytics, notification, app-store, customer-support and advertising providers; with professional advisers; during a lawful business reorganisation; to investigate abuse or protect people, rights and the service; or when legally required. Current core providers include Amazon Web Services for hosting and authentication, Apple and Google for app distribution and device services, and Google AdMob for advertising and consent management. Providers act under their own legal obligations and, where applicable, contractual data-protection terms.

Poll-O and its providers may process information in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, United States and other countries. Where transfer rules apply, Poll-O relies on adequacy decisions, approved contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism, and assesses supplementary safeguards where required.

Poll-O keeps information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. Account deletion disables access immediately and routine public account data is targeted for removal or de-identification within 30 days. Limited security, fraud-prevention, legal and audit records may be retained for up to 90 days or longer where a legal claim, investigation, mandatory retention rule or protected backup requires it. Providers may retain limited records under their own lawful retention schedules. Aggregated or irreversibly de-identified information may be retained.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, opt out of targeted advertising or certain sharing, and appeal a refused request. Send requests from the email associated with your Poll-O account to prem67@hotmail.co.uk. Poll-O may ask for proportionate verification and will never ask for your password or verification code.

People in the United Kingdom may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. People in the EEA may complain to their local supervisory authority. US residents may also use an authorised agent where applicable; Poll-O may verify the agent’s authority and your identity as permitted by law.

Poll-O is for people aged 18 and over. Poll-O does not knowingly permit children to create accounts or intentionally use children’s information for advertising. If Poll-O learns that an account belongs to a person under 18, it may restrict the account and delete or otherwise handle the associated information as required by law. Poll-O uses safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, managed authentication, access controls, pseudonymous public profiles, monitoring and deletion processes. No system can guarantee absolute security. Keep passwords and verification codes private and report suspected account compromise promptly.

Poll-O may update this notice when the service, providers or law changes. The updated version and effective date will be published here. Where required, Poll-O will provide additional notice or request a new choice before a material change takes effect.
